History of the project

InterPensioner was born out of a simple need: elderly people often live separately, and it is important for the family to be sure that everything is in order - medicines are taken, things are not forgotten, and in an emergency situation help will be called quickly. At the same time, many services for the age audience are overloaded and complex. We have combined security, reminders and communication with loved ones in one application and laid the "pensioner-guardian" model: the user remains independent, and loved ones help with settings and receive important notifications. The entry threshold is lowered by the voice assistant "Sonya" - it suggests, teaches and simplifies daily use.

The problem

The family needs a clear way to support an elderly person at a distance: to respond quickly to an emergency and see if the regime is not breaking down (medicines, cases). In practice, solutions are scattered, and interfaces are often too complex for an age audience - because of this, services are either not used or used irregularly.

The solution

We have assembled a product with a focus on two scenarios: emergency assistance and daily support. SOS was brought to the main screen and made a single stream with confirmation, notifications and geolocation/voice transmission. The role bundle "pensioner-guardian" allows loved ones to set up reminders and receive key signals, and the voice assistant "Sonya" helps to get used to it without unnecessary navigation.

Difficulties faced by the team

  • SOS without errors

    Confirmation and cancellation - from accidental clicks. Notifications and events are processed by the server so that everything works stably.

  • Simplicity

    Dissembled functions by roles, reduced navigation. Critical actions were left on the first screen.

  • Subscription

    Payment events can be duplicated. We did a server status check and protection against reprocessing.

  • Assistant

    In order for Sonya to respond without delays, we optimized the processing of requests and distributed the logic between the application and the server.

InterPensioner is a security product, so everything is critical here: the speed of the emergency scenario, the stability of notifications, correct roles and accesses. At the same time, the interface should remain as simple as possible for an age audience - without unnecessary steps and overload.

A separate layer of difficulties is integration: payments, notifications, voice functions. In such scenarios, it is important not only "to work", but also that the system correctly experiences repetitions of events and unstable communication.

  • AI assistant

    The voice assistant “Sonya” answers questions, guides users through the app, and helps with everyday tasks in simple, friendly language.

  • Planning lessons

    Users can create daily tasks and reminders for medication, walks, appointments, doctor visits, and other important routines.

  • A wide range of activities

    The app suggests games, courses, virtual tours, hobbies, and useful activities tailored to each user’s interests.

  • SOS panic button

    The emergency button instantly alerts loved ones, sharing the user’s location and a voice message when help is needed.

  • Internal chats

    Seniors and their loved ones can stay connected through private and group chats, with text, photos, videos, and voice messages.

  • Ratings

    Users earn points, levels, and rankings for staying active, completing tasks, and engaging with the app.

  • Voice control

    Key actions can be done by voice — from asking questions and creating tasks to getting guidance and talking to the assistant.

Simple training

The training is built directly into the application - without instructions and long manuals. The voice assistant "Sonya" suggests where the necessary functions are located, explains the steps in simple phrases and helps to get used to the service in the process of use. At any time, hints can be skipped or opened again - when you really need it.

SOS alarm button

SOS is the key scenario of the application and the fastest way to call for help. The button is on the main screen: one action starts a chain of notifications for loved ones and help contacts. You can add a voice message, and confirmation and the possibility of cancellation protect against accidental clicks - while the reaction speed remains maximum.

Leisure and health

Selections of classes for every day: from physical activity and hobbies to training and virtual walks. Everything is divided into categories and opens in one or two clicks to make it easy for the user to choose an activity and stay involved.

Subscription

Advanced functionality is available by subscription - with clear management and status control. The user always sees whether the subscription is active and when it will be extended, and important changes are confirmed by notifications. The server implemented a status check to eliminate errors due to repeated payment notifications.

Trustee's profile

The trustee profile is a remote care management center. Here you can add a ward, set up reminders and help contacts, as well as quickly go to the location and important events. All actions are divided into roles and are available only with the user's consent - to maintain a balance between support and personal boundaries.

How we worked

    Business analysis

    Defined the roles of "pensioner / trustee / administrator", key scenarios and the composition of the MVP. Fixed the requirements for access and data for SOS and notifications.

  2. 02

    Design

    Simplified navigation: large elements, high contrast, minimum of steps. Onboarding - through "Sonya", SOS - with confirmation and cancellation of accidental clicks.

  3. 03

    Development

    Assembled iOS/Android and backend for events and data. Connected notifications, chat/voice and payments, ensuring the stability of critical functions.

  4. 04

    Аpp launch in the stores

    Prepared release assemblies and permissions (geo/notifications/microphone). Added legal screens and passed the requirements of the sites.

  5. 05

    Testing

    We checked the login, subscription, SOS and push/SMS delivery. Separately - the delimitation of roles and clarity of scenarios for 55+.

Result

We have released MVP "InterPensioner" for iOS and Android and collected a single product around two scenarios: daily support and emergency assistance. Implemented a "pensioner-guardian" model with a clear division of roles, as well as a web admin panel for service management. Key functions (SOS, reminders, chat, leisure, assistant) work as a single system - without an overloaded interface for an elderly user.
